The 2023 season of the Women’s European Championship comes to an end at Imola, where Beatriz Neila Santos (511 Racing Team) takes an amazing win at the end of a very tight race that was hard fought until the chequered flag. The reigning champion beats Sara Cabrini (Gradara Corse) in the final lap, and the Italian is second at the finish line after fighting hard for victory and leading the race for a few laps.
Natalia Rivera (Trasimeno) is third in the race after a small mistake made at the last corner when she was fighting for victory with her compatriot. The Spanish vice-European champion completes the podium ahead of Roberta Ponziani (Roc’n’DeA), fourth. A fourth place was enough for the Abruzzo rider to win the Italian title (CIV Femminile).
Aurelia Cruciani (Roc’n’DeA) is in fifth position, behind her teammate Roberta Ponziani. Ran Yochay (Celo Racing) is WEC sixth and seventh in the overall classification (WEC and CIV Women’s). The Israeli is ahead of Patrycja Sowa (Sowa Racing), seventh, while Lena Kemmer (Bertlkr Racing) is eighth. Martina Guarino (MotoXRacing) and wild card Abigail Bosson (Trasimeno) close the top 10, in ninth and tenth respectively.
The other wild card Savannah Woodward (GP3 AD11) is 11th, ahead of Maria Saluste, 12th. Bitter race for Jessica Howden (Trasimeno), who crashes when she was fighting for the first positions. Beatrice Barbera (GP3 AD11), injured in Friday’s practice, did not take part in the race.
Beatriz Neila Santos – winner
“The race went very well, it was amazing and I am very happy. We did a good job and until the last corner I didn’t know if I was first, second. But in the end, I won and I am very happy. I want to thank everybody for their work this weekend. The championship was tough, especially at the beginning, but we did a good job, so we won”.
Sara Cabrini – 2nd position
“It was a test of endurance! Of course, I’m sorry I didn’t win the title, but it happens. It was difficult, I tried, but the thing that makes me proud is that I tried to win the race until the end. I showed that I could do it. I tried, I didn’t succeed but that’s ok. I thank the team who did an incredible job”.
Natalia Rivera – 3rd position
“We finish a race that we could have won, we fought for the first position during the whole race, but in the end on the last lap, at the low variant, I made a mistake. Anyway, we are happy with the work all weekend, which was not easy. Thanks to my team, my family and my sponsors”.
With the Imola race, the 2023 season comes the end. It has been full of emotions and adrenaline. The action on the track is over, but the Women’s European Championship is not stopping and is already working to set the 2024 season, which promises to be even more exciting!

Santos trionfa nell’ultima gara di stagione WEC al Virus Power Imola Round
La stagione 2023 della Women’s European Championship si conclude a Imola, dove Beatriz Neila Santos (511 Racing Team) conquista una splendida vittoria al termine di una gara tiratissima e combattuta fino alla bandiera a scacchi. La campionessa in carica batte nel finale Sara Cabrini (Gradara Corse), seconda al traguardo dopo aver lottato duramente per la vittoria e aver comandato la gara per qualche giro.
Natalia Rivera (Trasimeno) è terza in gara dopo un piccolo errore commesso all’ultima variante quando era in lotta per la vittoria con la connazionale. La spagnola vicecampionessa europea completa il podio davanti a Roberta Ponziani (Roc’n’DeA), quarta. Alla pilota abruzzese basta un quarto posto per conquistare il titolo italiano (CIV Femminile).
Alle spalle di Ponziani si piazza Aurelia Cruciani (Roc’n’DeA), quinta. Ran Yochay (Celo Racing) è sesta WEC e settima nella classifica generale (WEC e CIV Femminile). L’israeliana precede Patrycja Sowa (Sowa Racing), settima, mentre Lena Kemmer (Bertlkr Racing) è ottava. Chiudono la top 10 Martina Guarino (MotoXRacing) e la wild card Abigail Bosson (Trasimeno), in nona e decima posizione rispettivamente.
L’altra wild card Savannah Woodward (GP3 AD11) è 11esima, davanti a Maria Saluste, 12esima. Gara amara per Jessica Howden (Trasimeno), caduta quando lottava per raggiungere le prime posizioni. Non ha preso parte alla gara Beatrice Barbera (GP3 AD11), infortunata nelle prove di venerdì.

“La gara è andata benissimo, è stata bellissima e io sono molto contenta. Abbiamo fatto un bel lavoro e fino all’ultima curva non sapevo se fossi prima, seconda. Ma alla fine ho vinto e sono contentissima. Voglio ringraziare tutti per il lavoro di questo weekend. Il campionato è stato duro soprattutto all’inizio, ma abbiamo fatto un bel lavoro, quindi abbiamo vinto”.
Sara Cabrini – 2^ posizione
“È stata una prova di resistenza! Ovviamente sono dispiaciuta di non aver vinto il titolo, ma capita. Era difficile, ci ho provato però la cosa che mi rende orgogliosa è che ho provato a vincere la gara fino alla fine. Ho dimostrato di potercela fare. Ci ho provato, non ci sono riuscita ma va bene così. Ringrazio il team che ha fatto un lavoro incredibile”.
Natalia Rivera – 3^ posizione
“Finiamo una gara che avremmo potuto vincere, abbiamo lottato per la prima posizione durante tutta la gara, ma alla fine all’ultimo giro, alla variante bassa, ho commesso un errore. Comunque siamo contenti del lavoro di tutto il fine settimana, che non è stato semplice. Grazie al mio team, alla mia famiglia e ai miei sponsor”.
Con la gara di Imola si conclude questa stagione 2023, che è stata ricca di emozioni e di adrenalina. L’azione in pista finisce, ma la Women’s European Championship non si ferma e sta già lavorando per preparare la stagione 2024, che promette di essere ancora più entusiasmante!
