Sara Sanchez’s (511 Racing Team) comeback in the Women’s European Championship is more than positive: in the S97 RACING Brno round, the Spanish rider triumphs in Race 1 starting from pole position and making a comeback after a difficult start. Sanchez ends the race ahead of her team-mate Beatriz Neila Santos (511 Racing Team), who is second at the chequered flag.
The reigning champion climbs onto the podium despite the weekend’s difficulties and manages to finish Race 1 ahead of Roberta Ponziani (Roc’n’DeA). The rider from Abruzzo is third and comes back to the podium after some difficult races. The group of the first three gains a big margin on their pursuers, Sara Cabrini (Gradara Corse) is fourth at ten seconds from the winner of Race 1. Aurelia Cruciani (Roc’nDeA) is fifth at the end of the first race of the weekend and precedes Mia Rusthen (Trasimeno), who gets her best result of this season and she is sixth.
Lena Kemmer (Bertlkr Racing) is seventh behind the Norwegian opponent, while Israeli Ran Yochay (Celo Racing) is eighth. Martina Guarino (MotoXRacing) is ninth and Natalia Rivera (Trasimeno) closes the top 10. The Spaniard was leading Race 1 until a technical problem forced her to drop back. Maria Saluste (Motoclub Sinilind) closes the group in 11th. Jessica Howden (Trasimeno) did not finish the race due to a crash after a contact with Cabrini in the early stages of Race 1.
The first race of the S97 RACING Brno Round is now history. The fourth race weekend of the 2023 WEC season will conclude with Race 2, which will start on Sunday at 11.15 a.m.
Sara Sanchez – Winner
“I made a pretty bad start, I was seventh on the first lap and had to overtake everyone again. It was a pity, because when I was second, I couldn’t fight with Natalia. I had some problems with the bike, hopefully I can solve them tomorrow and get a good start. I’m happy, it’s the first podium together with the 511 team and it’s great”.
Beatriz Neila Santos – 2nd place
“The race was very difficult. I started well at the beginning, but I had the consequences of the mistakes of the weekend. I am happy because in the end I am second. I could have fought for the victory, but I preferred to settle for it because I thought about the championship. I want to thank the whole team for their work and tomorrow will be better”.
Roberta Ponziani – 3rd position
“It was a beautiful race, very tough. In the first few laps we were a good group, then it slowly thinned out and we remained three. I’m happy because we solved some problems on the bike, I was struggling both yesterday and this morning. There is still work to do, now there is something missing for tomorrow and we try to fix it”.

Sanchez brilla e vince Gara 1 dell’S97 RACING Brno Round
Il ritorno di Sara Sanchez (511 Racing Team) nella Women’s European Championship è più che positivo: nell’S97 RACING Brno round, la pilota spagnola trionfa in Gara 1 partendo dalla pole position e mettendo a segno una rimonta dopo una partenza difficile. Sanchez precede la compagna di squadra Beatriz Neila Santos (511 Racing Team), che è seconda alla bandiera a scacchi.
La campionessa in carica sale sul podio nonostante le difficoltà del weekend e riesce a concludere Gara 1 davanti a Roberta Ponziani (Roc’n’DeA). La pilota abruzzese è terza e torna sul podio dopo alcune gare difficili. Il gruppo delle prime tre guadagna tanto margine sulle inseguitrici, Sara Cabrini (Gradara Corse) è quarta a dieci secondi dalla vincitrice di Gara 1. Aurelia Cruciani (Roc’nDeA) è quinta al termine della prima gara del weekend e precede Mia Rusthen (Trasimeno), che ottiene il suo miglior risultato stagionale quest’anno ed è sesta.
Alle spalle della norvegese si classifica Lena Kemmer (Bertlkr Racing), settima, mentre l’israeliana Ran Yochay (Celo Racing) è ottava. Martina Guarino (MotoXRacing) è nona e Natalia Rivera (Trasimeno) chiude la top 10. La spagnola era al comando di Gara 1 fino a quando un problema tecnico l’ha costretta a retrocedere. Chiude il gruppo Maria Saluste (Motoclub Sinilind), undicesima. Non arriva al traguardo Jessica Howden (Trasimeno), caduta dopo un contatto con Cabrini nelle fasi iniziali di Gara 1.
Anche la prima gara dell’S97 RACING Brno Round è andata in archivio. Il quarto weekend di gara della stagione 2023 della WEC si concluderà con Gara 2, che scatterà domenica alle ore 11:15.

“Ho fatto una partenza abbastanza brutta, ero settima al primo giro e ho dovuto sorpassare di nuovo tutte. Peccato, perché quando ero seconda non riuscivo a combattere con Natalia. Ho avuto qualche problema con la moto, speriamo di risolverli domani e fare una bella partenza. Sono contenta, è il primo podio insieme al team 511 ed è bellissimo”.
Beatriz Neila Santos – 2^ posizione
“La gara è stata molto difficile. All’inizio sono partita bene, ma mi sono portata dietro gli errori del weekend. Sono contenta perché alla fine sono seconda. Potevo lottare per la vittoria, ma ho preferito accontentarmi perché ho pensato al campionato. Voglio ringraziare tutto il team per il lavoro e domani andrà meglio”.
Roberta Ponziani – 3^ posizione
“È stata una bellissima gara, molto dura. Nei primi giri eravamo un bel gruppo, poi pian piano si è sgranato e siamo rimaste tre. Sono contenta, perché abbiamo risolto dei problemi sulla moto, facevo fatica sia ieri che stamattina. C’è ancora da lavorare, adesso manca qualcosa per domani e vediamo di trovarla”.
