Seasons pass, but projects remain. That is what the Gradara Corse team, which has been present in the Women’s European Championship for a long time, thinks. The team guided by Carlo Facchini has always believed in women in motorsport, and this year they are betting on Sara Cabrini, a talented rider with great experience.
Sara joined the Gradara Corse team this year, a new reality to which she got used immediately, achieving important results: “It is a new season, but we have been in the WEC for many years”, says Carlo Facchini. “Sara Cabrini is a rider we had already identified last year as Josephine Bruno’s team-mate. This girl was with us in 2022, but she took a different route for this year. A team with two very strong girls would have helped a lot”.
So, at the beginning, the plan was to have two girls, but Sara was left alone and all energies were focused on her: “Sara got on well with us straight away and vice versa, she is a great girl. Like everyone, she has to learn and we with her, but it is a very positive collaboration, and we are already seeing the results in this championship”.
Despite the experience of the team and the rider, in 2023 not everything went as planned. A few unfortunate episodes have deprived Cabrini and Gradara Corse of the fight for the championship, but the enthusiasm and desire to do well in the next rounds of the WEC are still high: “A bit of bad luck, which we did not expect, has complicated things a bit with a few crashes. This left us out of the game, but we will continue until the end trying to get the best possible result”.
Not only 2023: Gradara Corse is ready for the future and is betting on women. Carlo Facchini has no doubts: he will be ready to continue in the Women’s European Championship also in the future. In store is the world championship, a goal to which they are aiming for further growth: “We will certainly participate in the next editions of the WEC and we will try to take part in all the women’s competitions because Gradara Corse firmly believes in this project. You can see it because Gradara Corse has been present since the first year as protagonists in all the events”.
“We will continue with the goal of winning. Last year we did not harvest what we could for various reasons. Unfortunately, bad luck robbed us of the joy of competing for first place, but we believe in it, we work hard. We are competitive, the team is well-rounded, and our DNA is to win. We will also try to do that in the Women’s European Championship,’ Carlo Facchini concludes.
Determination and hard work are some of the ingredients for the pursuit of success. The WEC teams are proof of this and, season after season, continue to prove how important it is to believe in projects involving women, who are ready to have their say in motorsport.
WEC meets…Gradara Corse – Scommettiamo sulle donne, crediamo nel progetto
Le stagioni passano, ma i progetti restano. È ciò che pensa il team Gradara Corse, presente nella Women’s European Championship da molto tempo. La squadra capitanata da Carlo Facchini ha sempre creduto nelle donne nel motorsport e quest’anno punta su Sara Cabrini, pilota di talento con grande esperienza.
Sara è entrata quest’anno a far parte del team Gradara Corse, una realtà nuova a cui si è abituata subito, ottenendo risultati importanti: “È una nuova stagione, ma noi siamo nella WEC da tanti anni”, ci racconta Carlo Facchini. “Sara Cabrini è una pilota che avevamo già individuato lo scorso anno come compagna di Josephine Bruno, che era con noi nel 2022, ma ha preso un’altra strada per quest’anno. Una squadra con due ragazze molto forti avrebbe aiutato tanto”.
Inizialmente il progetto prevedeva la presenza di due ragazze, ma Sara è rimasta sola e tutte le energie si sono concentrate su di lei: “Sara si è trovata subito bene con noi e viceversa, lei è una ragazza fantastica. Come tutti, ha da imparare e noi con lei, ma è una collaborazione molto positiva e ne stiamo vedendo già i risultati in questo campionato”.
Nonostante l’esperienza del team e della pilota, nel 2023 non tutto è andato come previsto. Qualche episodio sfortunato ha privato Cabrini e Gradara Corse della lotta per il campionato, ma l’entusiasmo e la voglia di far bene nelle prossime tappe della WEC sono ancora altissimi: “Un briciolo di sfortuna che non ci aspettavamo, ci ha complicato un po’ le cose con qualche caduta. Questo ci ha lasciato fuori dai giochi, ma continueremo fino alla fine cercando di ottenere il miglior risultato possibile”.
Non solo 2023: Gradara Corse è pronta al futuro e punta sulle donne. Carlo Facchini non ha dubbi: sarà pronto a continuare nella Women’s European Championship anche in futuro. In serbo c’è il mondiale, obiettivo a cui si punta per crescere ancora: “Sicuramente parteciperemo alle prossime edizioni del campionato femminile e cercheremo di far parte a tutte le competizioni femminili perché Gradara Corse crede fermamente in questo progetto. Lo si vede perché Gradara Corse è presente sin dal primo anno come protagonisti in tutte le manifestazioni”.
“Continueremo con l’obiettivo di vincere. Lo scorso anno non abbiamo raccolto ciò che potevamo per diverse ragioni. Purtroppo, la sfortuna ci ha privato della gioia di competere per il primo posto, però ci crediamo, lavoriamo molto. Siamo competitivi, il team è ben articolato e il nostro DNA è vincere. Cercheremo di farlo anche nella Women’s European Championship”, conclude Carlo Facchini. La determinazione e il lavoro sono alcuni degli ingredienti per la ricerca del successo. I team della WEC ne sono la prova e, stagione dopo stagione, continuano a dimostrare quanto sia importante credere nei progetti che coinvolgono le donne, pronte a dire la loro nel motorsport.
