They have made history since the very beginning, presenting themselves as the first all-female team. We’re talking about the 511 Racing Team, a reality that was well-received in the world of two wheels, and they are dominating the Women’s European Championship 2023 season with the reigning champion Beatriz Neila Santos.
“The championship is still very long, but we can say we started quite well”, Valentina Recanati, Communication & Partnership Manager 511 Racing Team, tells us. “Unlike last year, when at the start of the season we didn’t know the bike very well, this year we’ve got some good data, so we know the direction to take”.
The 511 Racing Team was farsighted when she decided to bet on the Spanish rider. She monopolized the Women’s European Championship Hall of Fame and she’s dominating the 2023 season with the Kawasaki Ninja 400 of the 511 Racing Team: “After a first moment of familiarization with the Kawasaki, Beatriz is beginning to ride as she knows. In Valencia she made an important step, but I’m sure that, growing together, she has still room for improving”.
The 511 Racing Team is an important reality in motorsport nowadays. The team was a pioneer of an idea that comes from the philosophy of making women a constant figure in motorsport with every kind of role: “We thank you a lot for considering ourselves pioneers, but the truth is that, through the engagement of our partners, we could bring life to an idea, a philosophy. We try to put the girls in the best conditions as possible so they can express their potential. In the same way we’re doing that on track, we want to do that in the garage and so on”.
The results they got mean a lot for this team, who started from zero and turned into a reference: “Every now and then we stop, and we think about the meetings in which 511 was only an idea…maybe a “crazy” idea. But we were so convinced that we were doing something important, and now even more. We have big projects for the future, and we will work harder to become a real reference”.
So, the goal for the future is to become a more and more important reality in motorsport. However, they won’t forget how important the hard work is to build solid bases that can help to grow more and more: “You need to pick the right ingredients to get great results. For sure, we have two of the best riders of the scene. We are happy they believed in us by taking on the challenge of riding with us. Our goal is to win the title with Beatriz, but we also want to prove everyone that we, as women, can hinder men as well and we’re doing that with Sara (in the CIV Supersport 300, ndr)”.
So, that’s only the start of a journey that will lead to the women success in motorsport. The “pink” in the two-wheels world is not a dream anymore thanks to the people who believe in their “crazy” ideas. They can become a great reality through the hard work and self-confidence.
WEC meets…511 Racing Team – La “pazza idea” di una squadra tutta in rosa
Hanno fatto la storia sin dal debutto, presentandosi come il primo team interamente al femminile. Parliamo del 511 Racing Team, una realtà che è stata ben accolta nel mondo delle due ruote e che in questa stagione sta dominando la scena della Women’s European Championship con la campionessa in carica Beatriz Neila Santos.
“Il campionato è ancora molto lungo, ma possiamo dire che abbiamo cominciato piuttosto bene”, ci racconta Valentina Recanati, Communication & Partnership Manager 511 Racing Team. “A differenza dello scorso anno, dove non conoscevamo ancora bene la moto all’inizio stagione, quest’anno abbiamo una buona banca dati e sappiamo qual è la direzione da seguire”.
Ci ha visto lungo il 511 Racing Team quando ha deciso di prendere nel team la pilota spagnola. È lei ad aver monopolizzato l’albo d’oro del campionato femminile e in questo momento sta facendo la differenza in sella alla Kawasaki Ninja 400 del 511 Racing Team: “Beatriz, dopo un primo periodo di presa di conoscenza della Kawasaki, sta iniziando a guidare come lei sa fare. A Valencia ha fatto uno step importante ma sono certa che con la crescita insieme, lei abbia ancora parecchio margine di miglioramento”.
Il 511 Racing Team è una realtà importante nel panorama del motorsport attuale. La squadra è stata pioniera, con un’idea che nasce dalla filosofia di far sì che le donne nel mondo delle due ruote siano una presenza costante e con ogni tipo di ruolo: “Vi ringraziamo per ritenerci pionieri, ma in realtà siamo solo riusciti, attraverso il coinvolgimento dei nostri partner, a dare vita ad un’idea, una filosofia. Noi crediamo pienamente in ciò che facciamo e stiamo facendo. Cerchiamo di mettere le nostre ragazze nelle migliori condizioni per poter esprimere il loro potenziale. Così come lo facciamo in pista, lo vogliamo fare anche nel box, e non solo”.
I risultati ottenuti rappresentano motivo di grande soddisfazione per questa squadra, che ha iniziato da zero diventando un riferimento: “Ogni tanto ci fermiamo e ripensiamo alle riunioni dove il 511 era un’idea…forse una “pazza” idea. Ma eravamo così convinti, e oggi ancor di più, che stiamo facendo qualcosa di importante. Abbiamo grandi progetti per il futuro e lavoreremo ancora più duramente per diventare un vero riferimento”.
L’obiettivo futuro, dunque, è quello di diventare una realtà sempre più importante nel panorama. Questo però non fa dimenticare quanto il lavoro sia fondamentale per costruire delle basi solide che possano portare ancora più in alto: “Per ottenere risultati di rilievo bisogna avere gli ingredienti giusti, abbiamo sicuramente due tra le pilote più forti nel panorama mondiale femminile. Siamo ben felici che loro abbiano creduto in noi e accettato la sfida vestendo i nostri colori. È chiaro che il nostro obiettivo è quello di vincere il titolo con Beatriz, ma vogliamo anche dimostrare a tutti che noi donne possiamo mettere in difficoltà anche gli uomini e lo stiamo facendo con Sara (nella Supersport 300 del CIV, ndr)”.
Questo è solo l’inizio di un percorso verso l’affermazione delle donne nel motorsport. Se il “rosa” nelle due ruote non è più solo un sogno, è anche grazie a chi crede nelle proprie “pazze” idee, che con il lavoro, l’impegno e la fiducia in se stessi diventano una grande realtà.
