A new WEC season is just around the corner, with the action set to commence at the Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli” over the weekend of 5-7 April. The opening round will run alongside the Italian CIV championship.
In terms of women’s racing series, the Women’s European Championship is setting the benchmark at the European level thanks to the hard work of FIM Europe and organisers EMG Eventi and MotoXracing, which have always believed in this project. A concept that dates back to 2020 with the creation of the Women’s European Cup, the series quickly grew in significance and became the Women’s European Championship in 2023.
In its second edition, the WEC will play out over eight races at some of the most important circuits in Italy, Czech Republic, and Croatia.
The 2024 starting grid looks increasingly international with riders from Italy, Spain, Poland, Estonia, and Malaysia. The favourites include Natalia Rivera #2 who, with her Yamaha YZF-R3 prepared by Team Trasimeno, will be looking for redemption after finishing second overall in 2023.
The entry list also features some new faces, like young rider Denise Dal Zotto #8 who, after several years in BSB, is back competing in Italy with the Team MotoXracing Yamaha. Fifteen-year-old Josephine Bruno #80 is another championship rookie, as is Malaysian rider Saudatul Zakirah Zairin #88. Both riders will be out on Kawasaki machinery, riding for Team Gradara Corse and GP3 AD11 respectively.
The race weekend will get underway on Friday with FP1 and FP2. Qualifying will take place on Saturday before the first of the year’s races begins on Sunday at 10.40.

Una nuova stagione del WEC è alle porte, l’azione comincerà al Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli” questo fine settimana, dal 05 al 07 aprile, in concomitanza con il CIV.
Ad oggi il Women’s European Championship è un campionato femminile di riferimento a livello Europeo, grazie al grande lavoro svolto da FIM Europe e dagli organizzatori EMG Eventi e MotoXracing, che hanno sempre creduto in questo progetto. La sua origine venne siglata nel 2020, quando venne appunto creata la Women’s European Cup, coppa che divenne sempre più di rilievo, e che, nel 2023, si trasformò in un vero e proprio campionato europeo femminile.
Alla sua seconda edizione, il WEC si disputerà in otto gare: nei circuiti più importanti italiani, Repubblica Ceca e Croazia.
La griglia di partenza del 2024 sarà sempre più internazionale con pilote provenienti da: Italia, Spagna, Polonia, Estonia e Malesia. Tra le favorite Natalia Rivera #2 che, con la sua Yamaha YZF-R3 del Team Trasimeno, cercherà sicuramente il suo riscatto dopo aver concluso in seconda posizione nel 2023.
Una entry list ricca di nuovi volti, come la giovanissima Denise Dal Zotto #8, che dopo anni nel BSB, torna a competere in Italia sulla Yamaha del Team MotoXracing. Prima esperienza nel campionato anche per la 15enne Josephine Bruno #80 e la malese Saudatul Zakirah Zairin #88, che scenderanno in pista su Kawasaki rispettivamente con il Team Gradara Corse e GP3 AD11.
Il weekend di gara inizierà da venerdì con FP1 e FP2. Sabato andranno in scena i due turni di qualifica e domenica, invece, alle 10:40 scatterà la prima gara dell’anno.
